a cappella ensemble director, publishing and marketing freelancer, copywriter and vocal instructor.
Singing
In 1995, Sarah began singing with Spices: A Women’s Ensemble, the a cappella group she now directs. Several years later, Sarah attended her first vocal improvisation workshop and was hooked. She began seriously to study vocal improvisation in 2003.
This study brought its rewards. In 2005, Sarah made a guest appearance with Rhiannon and Richard Davis. A year later, she was invited to attend a weeklong master class in Hawaii. Sarah has practiced improvisation with Rhiannon and Judi Donaghy (both members of Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra), Sally deBroux, Anthony Cox and Peggy Larson.
Sarah also plays viola, some piano and guitar, and writes songs.
Other Work & Education
Over the past 15 years, Sarah has worked as a performer, ensemble director, rape crisis unit supervisor, print production manager, facilitator/trainer, advertising director, vocal instructor and has done freelance work in web and print production as well as marketing.
Sarah holds a BSS from Cornell College and an AAS (in vocal performance) from McNally Smith College of Music.
