Black Velvet Punks & Sarah M. Greer

The third show of Julian Manzara‘s series features improvisational vocalist Sarah M. Greer followed by hip hop, jazz punk, and neo-soul band Seaberg and the Black Velvet Punks.

This all ages show will take place at Pimento Rum Bar, 2524 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

This is both a standing and seated show with general admission, first-come-first-served seating. The Cedar is happy to reserve seats for patrons who require special seating accommodations. To request seating or other access accommodations, please go to our Access page.

General Admission tickets are available online and by phone. Tickets will be available by *cash only* at the door.

About Seaberg & the Black Velvet Punks
Seaberg & the Black Velvet Punks is a hip hop, jazz punk, and neo-soul band fronted by Black genderqueer guitarist, Taylor Seaberg with drummer/vocalist, Traiveon Dunlap and bassist/vocalist, Roderick Glasper. Heavily inspired by the likes of Funkadelic, Gary Clark Junior, gospel, and rock music the all-black trio have performed at Walker Art Center’s Third Thursday, First Avenue Goes to the State Fair with Brother Ali and DemAtlas, Indeed Brewing Hullabaloo 2019, MCN6 Art-A-Whirl and more.

About Sarah M. Greer Music
Named one of “15 jazz artists of color to know on the Twin Cities jazz scene” by The Current in 2019, Sarah M. Greer is an improvisational vocalist who performs regularly with a cappella ensemble the Give Get Sistet and a variety of Minnesota jazz musicians. She released her debut album, “What the Music Says Do,” this past year. She’s performed at numerous events, festivals and conferences, including the 30th Annual Women & Spirituality Conference and she’s received three Artist Initiative Awards from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

About The Artist Collective
The Cedar’s Artist Collective is a group of curatorial artists and cultural liaisons from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities who are advising efforts at The Cedar Cultural Center to expand access and diversify programming. The group is comprised of of artists associated with Midnimo and the Cedar Commissions: Ritika Ganguly, Julian Manzara, Dameun Strange, Harbi, Ifrah Mansour, and Greg Grease.
These innovative artists have spent 2019 curating their own shows at The Cedar, developing initiatives to increase access to the arts at The Cedar, and advising our staff and programming. This is The Cedar’s first-ever multicultural, multi-genre music collective in the organization’s 30-year history.
